Culinary Craftsmanship and Design Excellence: NEL x KROF

In the world of gastronomy, where flavours dance and stories unfold, NEL Restaurant has carved its niche by offering an extraordinary dining experience. Nestled in the heart of Sydney, NEL weaves innovation, creativity, and a touch of whimsy into its ever-evolving 11-course degustation journey.

At the helm is Chef Nelly Robinson, a visionary who seamlessly blends his Michelin-star expertise with a playful twist. Now, the culinary artistry of NEL meets the design elegance of KROF, a partnership that promises to transcend taste and aesthetics. In an exclusive interview, NEL and the KROF team delve into the essence of this collaboration and how it enriches the dining narrative. Get ready to embark on a sensory journey where culinary craftsmanship and design excellence intertwine.

KROF: Can you tell us a bit about the NEL concept?

NEL: NEL Restaurant set in Sydney, Australia takes guests on a culinary journey like no other. With an ever-changing 11 course degustation theme it keeps guests intrigued and coming back for more. We’re fine dining, but with a playful twist.

Chef Nelly Robinson is the owner and leads the team at NEL. Stemming from the UK and having worked in Michelin star restaurants he brings the quality and class he’s learnt from afar and matches it with his big kid mentality to create menus that are whimsical, gastronomic and above all delicious.

KROF: As a restaurant that values the dining experience as a whole, can you speak to the importance of tableware and how it contributes to the overall ambiance and enjoyment of a meal?

NEL: We like to think of eating at NEL like dinner and a show. The show being our open pass, the story behind each dish shared by one of the front of house team and how the fish is presented to the guest. The plate, plating and cutlery. We also don't just have the cutlery presented on the table. We have built a hidden cutlery drawer into each table. When this is revealed to the guest this only adds to the unique ambience of their experience.

"It's classic being polished. But modern in its aesthetic. Which is how we like to think of us also"

KROF: How does KROF's cutlery design complement NEL’s overall aesthetic and dining experience?

NEL: We have the Polished cutlery range at NEL. It's classic being polished. But modern in its aesthetic. Which is how we like to think of us also.

KROF: What do you hope diners take away from their experience at NEL?

NEL: That they were transported to somewhere whimsical, like no other. We want to leave them curious for the next menu theme. And wanting to come on another culinary journey with us.
